Auch!

Posted on by Laurits Fischer-Hansen Posted in Biking, Running | Leave a comment

After more than 3 weeks off the bike, out of the pool and only running to catch my kids it was time to start my training regime again. The original 2012 plan was stop competing after last month’s A-race but I didn’t really feel like I was ready to call it quits just yet. So I found a local sprint Tri in the beginning of October that I signed up for. I was really looking forward to start training again. …

Not training

Just a quick update from my side: After my last race I haven’t really trained, at all… A few well considered reasons for this are: 1: I sprained my ankle a bit on my first post-race run… 2: I have been ona very nice 10-day vacation to California 3: I was actually a bit tired, mentally after 8 months of hard training The good thing is that I will start training and thus updating my website again tomorrow, because: 1: …

This is the second installment in my evaluation of NJ State triathlon and preparation for the US age group nationals coming up in a few days. But first a recap of my bike stats from the NJ State Tri: Distance: 41.04 km Time: 1:06:58 Avg Speed: …

Race day nutrition

After my last olympic race in July I have spent a bit of time evaluating my race. As you can see from my race report I don’t have the best of runs and in order to try and better this I talked to my coach abouth my race nutrition and I also did a threshold test on the bike in order to get a better understanding of what my effort should be on the bike. I will keep to the …

New Jersey State Tri

As a part of my build-up to my main A-race in August, I participated in the New Jersey State Triathlon. I also did the race last year, but this year I upped the ante doing my first Olympic distance. The build up had been so-so, having spent 3 weeks vacationing in Denmark and only following my training schedule sporadically. I had also felt a bit of burn-out during the last couple of weeks, so I was a bit anxious on …

Training in the heat

Posted on by Laurits Fischer-Hansen Posted in Triathlon | Leave a comment

Today was the first really hot day here in New Jersey and I just did a brick workout in 94 degrees. 1 1/2 hour on the bike and 20 min run. The bike was fine. I did 1 quart of fluids and 2 gels. When I came home and changed for the run I ate 1/2 a banana and drank a 1/3 quart of water. However for the first time ever I did feel lightheaded after the 20 min run. …

Week 6 recap

Week 6 was the last week in the “Base” phase of my training program. This means that the week was the last of mainly building aerobic capacity and endurance, doing moderate aerobic-intensity sessions. I had to take a rest day Friday + an easy day on Saturday due to social commitments, but as the first four days included 8 quality sessions, I had no problem taking it a bit easy. My Wednesday ride was a faster-ish 2 hour ride on …
